*Get yourself a bottle of Uruguay Pinot!!*
*Get yourself a bottle of Uruguay Pinot!!*

With the world being so small, and wine being made all over the world, it would logically make sense that trying wine from around the globe should be a natural progressive and simple process. Besides the fact that the LCBO controls most of the wine we are "allowed" to drink by filtering what goes on the shelves, it should be a well known fact that there are amazing wines being made from many different wine regions of the world.
Although I have yet to do really any travelling - although Pax and I are going to California for a week in January : -) I happen to recieve the worldly wine benefits of a traveling producer boyfriend. Last year he ended up heading to South Africa & Argentina an this year he traveled to Uruguay. From his visit to Uruguay Tony brought back 12 bottles of vino, all from small family ran unique wineries. From South Africa I tasted the silky, savoury Pinotage, for Argentina I sipped on many warm, rustic and earthy bottles of Malbec, and from Uruguay I have tasted a mouth watering bottle of Pinot Noir. Each bottle has been hand picked from their own special place on the

The most prized bottles from Uruguay are from Don Pasqual, and are all hand signed by the winemaker, are individually numbered from single barrels and to boot they all have hand written labels.
Recently we cracked open a bottle of the Don Pasqual Pinot Noir. We enjoyed the bottle while grilling up Organic Rib Eye Steaks from The Healthy Butcher on Queen Street West. It was a meal made in heaven. Alongside our ribeye steaks, we sipped on a hand labelled bottle of Uruguay Pinot Noir and our eyes rolled into the back of our heads. All I can say is "WOW" and then I can say with great emotion "Get yourself a bottle" and try it out - i.e. Fly to South America, meet a winemaker and fly back with a few bottles, it is a tough job - but someone has to do it!
